Debra Druse

Miss Debra began teaching straight out of high school in her small hometown dance studio in Sanderson, Tx. After several years of working the the remote west Texas towns and attending college she moved to the coastal bend area. The early 80's were when she established Footwork Dance Studio here in Rockport and one of her first students through the door was a 5 year old Miss Tindal! The studio grew rapidly and within 2 years had moved to 3 different locations to keep up with demand. Finally settling in the Al Johnson Market Center the studio flourished and grew for 20 years, the annual Hot Shoe Show was established and now here we are! As dance broadened across the nation, Miss Debra followed suit attending summer workshops, seminars, teacher conferences and all the professional development she could find. Some of that included workshops with Gregory Hines, Tommy Tune, and other tap heros as well as leaders in the ballet and jazz world. The World Dance Festival in Tampa Florida became a favorite because of the weeks long access to hundreds of classes in all forms of dance. The 90's were the Broadway years where Debra visited/ experienced/ took classes with many of the great Broadway stars of the day. Alway bringing home the latest choreography from the Broadway shows for her students to learn. In 2004 she and her husband suddenly got the opportunity to move overseas when David took a position teaching DOD military dependants on bases in Sicly, German,Okinawa and South Korea. Debra didn't want to sit still though and decided to teach on these bases and present dance recitals each year. Back at home she and Tindal decided it that the studio should go to Tindal and Kinetic Movement Center was founded. Now back in Rockport and still into dance, Debra is now working and teaching for Miss Tindal and loving every minute of it. Maybe even more than 40 years ago.
